I believe that the intersection between your financial story (your financial past) and your financial present is the key to unlocking your financial future (your financial plan). We all have a financial story. We may not know that story or understand how it affects our ability to achieve our financial goals, but it’s always present.

Bringing coaching into a financial advisory relationship is a powerful experience.

Coaching helps you see yourself and the world around you exactly as you/it are.  A coach also helps you find your way to your desired destination.

Financial planning takes an in-depth inventory of your current financial position and your future goals and assesses your ability to meet those goals.

The combination of these two disciplines offers a truly impactful experience where you directly see how behavioral changes affect your future outcomes, and receive the accountability and coaching needed to make lasting change in your life.

I entered the financial field because I want to help people improve the quality of their lives by gaining more control of their money and time. Most often, improving the quality of your life will require change.  But change is not easy. Too often in my previous career as an accountant I delivered recommendations, but the client was unable to act on them. Each clients’ reasons were different, but nevertheless they were there and often persisted year after year.  I wanted to help the client further, but my business model and client load didn’t allow me to delve deeper.

This desire to truly help clients make change is why I’ve chosen coaching as a complement to financial planning rather than offering investment management, tax preparation or other such services as many financial professionals do. Investment management and tax preparation are worthwhile services but they require a lot of time and infrastructure to support. And they simply are not the problem that I believe is the most important, or that I want to focus my energy on at this point in my life.

My core skills are communication and service. When I marry them with my love for personal finance and investing, the natural fit for me is a combination of coaching and planning. It took me a long time to realize that, but once I did it made total sense.  And now, on to the fun work of seeing what I’m able to accomplish when the majority of my working hours can be spent in areas that I’m naturally good at and enjoy.

I hope to show my clients how great life can be when you are able to align your time, money, and work with your interests and what comes naturally. If you start to truly get to know yourself, begin removing the pieces of your life that don’t fit, and start adding in things that do, then making progress with your finances will follow easily.
